Happy Anniversary!

I can’t believe it’s been a year! A full year of being together… Not just ‘together’ together, but waking up each morning and going to bed at night kind of together. I never imagined that it will pass by this fast. As always, I was first hesitant to accept change. But getting married was the smartest and best decision I have taken. It allowed me to overcome my resistance to change.

We prepared for September 9, 2006 for around a year as well. Squeezing the wedding preparations between our busy work schedules. We did it though - without a wedding coordinator! We had a few friends helping us out though. And boy, was it magnificent! God was indeed the director of that perfect day. We even had a twister at Manila Bay the night before - no kidding!

We would like to think that we amply prepared for that big day. We went through the Discovery Weekend, attended the pre-cana seminars, and prayed hard everyday. It was a test of our patience and love for each other. It was also a test for our families since they would have to welcome a stranger in their midst. All through the preparations, we grew together and loved each other more deeply. Over the past year, it continued. But in different ways. We learned to keep a house, budget our finances, and divide our time. It wasn’t easy, but it made us realize that life is more meaningful with us sharing it with each other.

We did not go all out in celebrating our first anniversary as man and wife. We did not forget. We just had too many blessings! We celebrated simply with lunch and pizza with our families. No getaway, no shopping spree. Simple but meaningful. We also had Johann inside my womb. That was the biggest blessing God has given us. He allowed us to create life. Now we are busy preparing for Johann.
